SANREMO EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2014
One day in advance the Italian Championship
At the meeting held at the Yacht Club Sanremo with Martin Payne, IDA sailing co-ordinator, a number of clarification have been made about the European and Italian Championships 2014. The Italian Nationals will now be a day earlier, so Thursday 20th, Friday 21st & Sat 22nd March. Boats that measure in prior to the Italian Nationals will also be eligible for the Europeans, others can also measure in Sunday 23rd.
The Practice Race at 2.00pm on Monday 24th will be sponsored by the Sanremo Casino, attractive prizes and a higher craning out position will be used to try to put more importance on the race and to have large participation.
The European Championship courses (from Tuesday 25th to Saturday 29th March) will always be 3 upwind legs, with a full upwind finish (unless the course has to be shortened).
On the two race days it is possible to have a 2.3 mile first beat and still be able to start the second race in the same area as the finish. So that no time is lost between races! Maybe just 15 mins to allow for a quick bite to eat.
Also by making the second race course to windward of the first race course, it brings in new options on which way to go. This will hopefully eliminate the one sided race-track we can sometimes get if the wind is from the east or the west…..
On one race days, the race course will be in the “middle” of the two, so again offering a new race area !
There will be a Yacht with a Tall Mast flying an orange flag at the windward marks to locate them. This Yacht may also be used at the finish… (To allow the principle committee boat to prepare the new start line).

ERNESTO QUARANTA TROPHY IS APPROACHING

As scheduled, the first step of the approach at the Sanremo European Championship 2014 will take place on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November in Imperia organized by Porto Maurizio Yacht Club.

WEST LIGURIA SAIL & TASTE: DOC WINES OF IMPERIA

The dragon races offer the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Pigato, Vermentino, Ormeasco and Rossese Dolceacqua wines of Imperia’ wineyards.
Let’s start by Rossese Dolceacqua or Dolceacqua, which was the first wine from Liguria to get the Controlled Denomination of Origin in 1972. A wine of great quality, it is produced in a dozen of villages in the Province of Imperia, an area of about 80 hectares.

The colour is ruby red tending to garnet red with aging, the nose is rose petals, berries and mineral notes.
The Dolceacqua goes well with pasta with meat sauce, Ligurian style rabbit, lamb with artichokes, wild boar, Ligurian style stockfish, seasoned pecorino cheese.

Advisable to serve it at a temperature of 16-17°
